- General Rules:
- Any Fiction that features characters in the Midle Earth fandom, not included in the Restricted Fandoms or Banned Topics sections, is elligable.
- Cross-Overs must include one of these characters as a "Star".
- Original fiction set in Tolkien's universe is acceptable.
- No Real Person Fic. Make sure that you understand the difference between the actor and the character. There are exceptions, if there is a question about your fic's appropriateness, send it to me privately.
- Absolutely no stories depicting underage sex. That's 18 here. Use your judgement regarding the age of majority for Elves and Dunedine.
- Please include ratings and disclaimers. Detailed guidelines follow. Mail me if you need help.
- Absolutely NO flaming for any reason *what so ever*. Violators will be banned and tossed without hesitation into the Fires of Mount Doom.
- Restricted Fandoms:
- Currently any fan fiction that contains characters from written works by Anne Rice or any of her pseudonyms is not allowed. This is because Ms. Rice has involved her lawyers in banning all fan fiction containing her characters.
- Official Star Wars Web Sites - This is referring to any website provided by Lucusfilms or their affiliates. The last information that we had was that Lucusfilms retained the rights to any creative work placed on websites provided by them. Therefore, we cannot post any work that is currently or was previously placed on a website provided by Lucasfilms.
- Banning Offences:
- People Bashing - We recognized that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But, any opinion that expresses hatred or intolerance towards another human being for any reason will not be tolerated.
- Plagiarism - The act of stealing and using the ideas or writings of another fan fiction writer as your own. The Web Mistress frequently surfs and reads the content of other fan fiction sites. You will be caught.
- Posting Requirements:
- Archive Rating - The archive is for fan fiction rated G to NC-17.
- Fan Fiction Header - This header must be included at the beginning of your story and separate with some sort of divider i.e. asterisks, dashes, etc. Please list the items in the order presented. Get this list as .txt to insert into your story.
- Title and Chapter Number. If you do not know how may chapters your story will have then use a ?. Example: The Wayward Wish 1/? You can always change it later.
- Author(s). All authors must be listed. If this is a Multi-Author fic, you must secure their permission before posting.
- Fandom. List the fandom(s) your story is about. If it involves more than one fandom, it is a crossover.
- Rating - Use this Rating System.
- Disclaimer -You must have a statement that you are not claiming ownership of copyrighted or trademarked characters, places, or things, including a statement that you are not making any money from the fan fic.
- Warnings - This means warning the reader about any extreme subject matter contained with the fanfic, ie: character death, foursome, rape, BDSM...
- Betas - Your beta worked hard, please give them credit.
- Cast - This is where you list the subjects of your story. Example: Legolas/OC If your characters are not romantically involved you might list them this way: Legolas, Gimli, Han Solo. This means only the major players in your story.
- Timeline - When in the Canon universe does your story take place? If in isn't set during the canon timeline than list it as an AU - Alternate Universe - story.
- Author's Note - Only include if you want to write a note about your story. Example: This Lord of the Rings fanfic follows the book events not the events from Peter Jackson's film.
- Spoiler - List any spoiler warnings here.
- Summary - The summary should be a brief synopsis of what your story is about.
- Rating System:
- G - No profanity. No violence other than cartoon like. No nudity. No sexual content. No drugs.
- PG - Some profanity limited to: Piss, Damn, Hell. Minimum Violence: no blood, death or brutality. No drugs. Mention of nudity without details. Mild, implied sexual innuendo.
- PG-13 - Some profanity limited to: Piss, Damn, Hell, Shit and other non-explicit curse words. Violence: minimal blood, no brutality, no death. Non-sexually related nudity. Mention of drugs only, no use. May include references to mature topics limited to: suicide, homosexuality, and details of childbirth.
- R - Profanity ok provided not explicit. Violence ok provided not graphic torture or sexual violence. Nudity ok provided explicit language not used in the description. Drug use ok. May include reference to mature topics beyond PG-13 except for graphic torture or sexual violence. Sex ok provided explicit language is not used in the description.
- NC-17 - Anything that does not fall under previous ratings with the exception of the following banned topics: Bestiality, sexual activity or sexual violence involving underage characters, extreme violence involving underage characters, extreme sexual fetishes i.e Golden shower, necrophilia, etc. - contact Web Mistress if not sure.
These ratings are based on the MPAA rating system with some modifications.
- Banned Topics:
- Celebrity/Real Person Fan Fiction - Sorry, legal issues ya'know. Any fan fiction containing Celebrities/Real People cannot be posted. Many celebrities are becoming angered by the use of their likeness in fan fiction. It's a legal battle we don't want to fight, 'cause I'm broke and I can't win anyway.
- Bestiality - Sexual activity between a character and an animal. This does not include, for instance, Werewolves as long as they are in human form.
- Gratuitous sexual situations involving underage characters. 'First time' fics are allowed, but please keep your characters of an approximate age. Glorification of pedophilia is not allowed.
- Gratuitous violence involving underage characters. Explorations of abuse are allowed, as long as the focus of the fiction is not on the abuse itself.
- Extreme sexual fetishes i.e. Golden shower, necrophilia, etc - contact the Admin if you are not sure.
- Please note that knife and/or bloodplay and Consentual BDSM fics *are* allowed. Also, Vampires and/or Ghosts are not considered corpses and do not fall under the necrophilia restriction.
- How To Post Your Fic
- All submitted fiction will be reviewed by a pannel of 4 anonymous authors (the website admin only gets a vote in the instance of a tie), and accepted or declined on the basis of basic grammar, spelling, and general read-ability. You don't have to be a Rhodes Scholar, but do use a beta and spell-checker.
- Exception 1: Currently archived authors and in-progress fics will continue to be accepted.
- Exception 2: If you have been invited to have your fic on the site.
- Join one of our Mailing Lists.
- OR send it to me at with FICTION SUBMISSION as the subject, in TXT format attached to an e-mail OR in the body of an e-mail.

- Only ORIGINAL fan-art will be posted in the Gallery. At this time, photo manipulations are not eligible.
- Any rating is allowed, as long as there is an easily identifiable Tolkien Character in the image.

- If you're going to mail me your art as an attachment, please give me warning!
- If your art is already posted on the web (or in the list photos), and you would like me to save it from there, send me the URL (or file location).
