Notes: While writing this, I followed the Tolkien's books and the two movies and made up a few things as well. My timeline does not coincide with the books, only to try to keep things short! I hope the translations are correct, if not please email me so I can make any necessary repairs. I hope to add drawings soon, having just moved I will need some time. I hope you enjoy my first fan fic I've ever written, please let me know what you think! This fan fic was also part of the www.haldir-lives.org Fan Fic Challenge.

Jelena woke the next morning in Legolas' arms. Legolas was still asleep and she lay there listening to his breathing. She still couldn't believe that he was lying next to her. She snuggled against his chest and touched her lips against his warm skin, inhaling his woodsy scent. She picked up one of his hands and played with his fingers.

"Good morning."

"I'm sorry! Did I wake you?" Jelena asked. "I just had to touch you, feel you, make sure I wasn't dreaming!"

"I feel the same way!" he said. He brushed his fingers through her thick curly hair. "I hope our child has your hair. And your eyes."

Jelena smiled. "I hope our child has your good looks and your heart," she said, putting her hand to his chest. She held it there, feeling it beat within his chest. Jelena heard his stomach growl. "You are hungry! Come in the kitchen and I'll make us something to eat," she said.

"Or how about I'll make you something to eat?" he said, getting out of bed and helping her up. He gently touched the side of her face. "Your bruises are fading." Legolas' eyes grew sad when he looked at the fading marks on her face and body. "How do your ribs feel?"

"They are feeling better," she said. She brushed Legolas' hair behind his ears. She kissed him on the mouth and he gently embraced her. His hands moved up and down her back and hers to the sides of his face and through his hair, brushing over his ears. He let out a slight moan and released her, stepping back. He quickly turned and reached for his leggings. "Are you all right?" Jelena asked.

"I am fine," he said, pulling on his leggings to cover up his growing excitement for her. He felt guilty after all she went through with Maeldir. After he had them tied he grabbed her robe and turned towards her. "Here, put this on." He smiled at her and helped her put it on. "You'll have to show me around the kitchen," he said, taking her hand and leading her out the door.

The house was quiet except for some snoring coming from behind closed doors. Jelena led him into the pantry, where they got some eggs, bread, bacon and milk. Legolas got a fire going and Jelena put on a pot of water for tea. She got out a large bowl and they began cracking eggs. After about a dozen, Legolas asked, "don't you think that is enough?"

"Well, we might as well make enough for everyone else!" Three-dozen eggs later, Legolas and Jelena were laughing trying to beat the eggs, which splattered all over. Legolas cooked the eggs and bacon in batches in two large frying pans. Jelena helped by toasting bread and brewing the tea.

Pippin stumbled out into the kitchen holding his head, moaning. "Oh! Too much ale last night!!!" He grabbed one of the plates that Jelena had placed on the table and preceded to help himself.

Legolas took the fork from Pippin's hand. "Ladies first!" he said, handing Jelena a plate. Legolas put some eggs and bacon on her plate and held out a chair at the table for her.

"Thank you," she said, smiling at Legolas. He handed Pippin back his fork. Merry and Sam were the next to come out, looking rather hung over. The women came out next, surprised to see the blonde elf cooking. He handed them plates with a smile, telling them to help themselves. The men joined a short while later and soon the kitchen was packed with eleven hobbits, one dwarf, one wizard, three elves and a pregnant half elf/half hobbit.

Legolas finally got to sit after cooking five-dozen eggs, six pounds of bacon and toasting four loaves of bread. They made room for him to sit next to Jelena. "Well, everyone," said Paladin. "Looks like we have a busy day today, breaking down all the party stuff. Thank you much, Legolas, for the wonderful breakfast," he said, patting his full stomach. Everyone else offered words of thanks as well. "Let's get on with the job at hand." He stood up and headed for the door, with Pippin, Merry and Sam following. The women got up and picked up the plates. Gandalf, Gimli and Haldir followed the hobbits outside to lend a hand.

Jelena stood up to help with the cleanup. "What do you think you're doing?" Angelica asked. "You sit back down! You are not to lift a finger! Make sure she doesn't move!" she said to Legolas.

Jelena looked over at Frodo who was pushing his eggs around his plate as if he were in a daydream. "Frodo?" asked Jelena. He continued to stare off at nothing.

"Frodo!" said Legolas. Frodo jumped and looked at Jelena and Legolas. His eyes were sad. "Is something wrong with your breakfast?" Legolas joked.

Frodo gave Legolas a smile. He picked up his plate and sat down next to Legolas. "I'm sorry," he said. "I haven't been myself lately. In fact, I haven't been myself since we returned to the Shire." He leaned closer to Legolas so only he could hear. "I feel like I don't belong here. It's like I'm drifting off into a dream and I can't wake up."

Legolas didn't know what to say. Frodo had been through so much. The Ring put a terrible strain on the hobbit as well as the wound he received from the Ringwraith. Legolas put a consoling arm around him. "I am sorry you are so troubled, my friend. This should be a happy time for you."

Frodo smiled up at Legolas. "I don't mean to bring you down," he said. "It is surely a happy time for you!" he said cheerfully, the veil of sadness lifting from his face. "Will you both be staying in the Shire?"

Legolas and Jelena looked at each other. "I think for now we will stay," said Legolas. "It is good for Jelena to be near her family. Especially with a baby or two on the way!" he said laughing.

"I told you, Legolas Greenleaf, bite your tongue!"

They joined their friends outside for the cleanup. Legolas found a nice, comfortable chair for Jelena and went to work. Some of the neighbors who were there the night before came to lend a hand, with hopes that there might be some leftover ale and snacks around. Diamond returned and pulled up a chair next to Jelena. "Good morning, Jelena," she said. She sat down and watched the men packing up the tables and benches. She looked at the two tall, blonde elves. "I see why you fell in love with him! Legolas is very handsome!"

Jelena looked over at Legolas. He looked back and smiled. His blonde hair was shining like spun gold in the sunshine and his eyes sparkled. She could see his muscles flexing under the material of his tunic and leggings. Butterflies began to flutter in her stomach. "Yes, he is!" she said.

She looked back at Diamond and noticed she was watching someone through lowered lashes. She followed her glance and saw that she was watching Pippin. Diamond let out a sigh. "Does he know that you like him?" asked Jelena.

"Like who?" Diamond said shyly.

"Pippin. Does he know that you like him?" The girl was about to protest when Jelena held up her hand. "I can tell by the way you are looking at him that you care for him!"

"He doesn't know that I exist," she said. "At least not more than friends. Since he came back it's like… I don't know… like he grew up while he was gone." She glanced back at him, smiling. "He's very handsome, too, don't you think?"

Jelena smiled and giggled. "Yes! My cousin is very handsome! Do you want me to talk to him for you?"

"Oh no! Don't do that! I would be embarrassed!" she said blushing.

"But how will you ever find out if he has any feelings for you? Maybe he does! Have you tried to talk to him?" Diamond shook her head no. "Well, then, we need to arrange some time together for you two!" Jelena got up and went over to where the men were working. "Pippin, perhaps when everyone is done, we can take our friends to the river for a dip to cool off?"

Pippin ran down the hill. "Are you sure you want to go back there? After what happened?"

"That was Maeldir, not the place! I won't let his memory spoil it! I think you should ask Diamond if she would like to go. She seems like she would like to go as well."

"Do you think so?" Jelena nodded and Pippin went to ask her. Jelena waited until Pippin went back to work before she went back to her chair and Diamond. Diamond's face was lit up with excitement.

"Come and help me pack a lunch," Jelena said, grabbing Diamond by the hand. They went inside to the kitchen and began pulling supplies out of the pantry with the help of Jelena's aunts and Pervinca. They were filling up the baskets when Paladin, Legolas, Haldir and Lirimaer came in. Legolas found Jelena and wrapped his arms around her from behind, putting his hands on her belly and kissing her on top of her head. "Is everyone finished cleaning up?" she asked.

"Just about," he said, helping her fill the last basket.

Pippin and Merry came in and grabbed a few of the baskets. "Is everyone ready?" Pippin asked.

"I think the older folks are going to stay behind and relax," his mother said. "I think we had enough last night! You young people go and have a good time!"

"Well, I guess that leaves you out then, Haldir!" Legolas laughed.

"Hey, I'm only a few hundred years older than you, my friend!" Haldir said.

The hobbits stared at the two elves. "I hope you don't mind me asking, but how old are you?" Diamond asked Legolas.

"I'm 2,931 years old," Legolas said matter-of-factly. Many of the hobbits' mouths dropped open. "That really isn't very old for an elf," Legolas said.

"Talk about an older man!" Pippin said to Jelena, making her laugh. "Well, let's get going before we loose any more time! Unfortunately us hobbits don't live that long and need to take advantage of the time we are given!" Pippin said. He went around the table and picked up Diamond's basket. "Are you ready?"

She smiled and nodded at Pippin and followed him to the door. Legolas led Jelena out and Haldir, Lirimaer, Merry, Pervinca, Gimli and Sam followed them. Sam turned to Frodo, " are you coming Mr. Frodo?"

"I think I will stay behind, Sam. I'm feeling a little tired."

"Then I will stay with you," Sam said.

"Go. Have some fun, Sam! I will be all right." Sam reluctantly followed everyone out the door.

They reached the rock and set down their baskets. Legolas, Haldir and Gimli walked out to the edge of the rock and had a look around. Legolas took a step back and waved his hand at Gimli to get his attention. He made some motions behind Haldir's back. Gimli nodded his head. Suddenly Legolas and Gimli were pushing Haldir. Haldir caught hold of Legolas and Gimli just as he fell off the edge of the rock, taking Legolas and Gimli over with him. Everyone burst out laughing. Their heads popped out of the water and Haldir was looking furious. He swam over to Legolas and pushed his head under the water. Gimli was trying to swim back to the rock when Haldir dunked him under, too.

Jelena was laughing so hard her ribs began to hurt. Gimli climbed out of the water and sat down on the rock, wringing out his beard, muttering to himself. Legolas and Haldir hopped onto the rock laughing at the half-drowned dwarf. They pulled off their boots, pouring the water out of them. Their tunics came off next, which they hung in the tree branches to dry. They began to unlace their leggings when Lirimaer interrupted them. "Boys?"

Haldir and Legolas looked at Lirimaer who was pointing to Diamond and Pervinca; they were staring with their jaws dropped. "Well I cannot sit here in wet leather leggings!" Haldir said. Lirimaer threw a couple of towels at him. He threw one at Legolas and they went down the path to change.

Jelena unfolded a blanket to set up the picnic. Legolas and Haldir returned a few minutes later with towels wrapped around their waists. They hung their leggings up with their tunics to dry. "You should be resting," Legolas said to Jelena.

"I'm not helpless!"

"I didn't say you were, my love. You have to let yourself heal." He took the basket from her and sat down next to her. He grabbed her and pulled her into his lap. He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her on the neck. Jelena tilted her head to the side to expose more for him to kiss.

"You are getting me all wet!" Lirimaer laughed. Haldir was standing over her, his hair dripping down her back. He sat down behind her and wrapped himself around her and nibbled on her ear.

Jelena looked at Haldir's back and noticed a faint pinkish line running down his back. "What happened to Haldir? How did he get that scar?" she asked Legolas.

"At Helm's Deep. An Uruk-hai got him. If it wasn't for Lirimaer, he wouldn't be here with us right now," Legolas said.

"What did she do?"

"You will have to talk to her about it. From what I gathered, she knew what was going to happen to him months before it happened, from her dreams. She disguised herself as a warrior and was fighting next to him. She threw a knife at his attacker before the Uruk-hai hit Haldir so the blow was not as bad as it could have been. He is very fortunate that she was there, isn't that right, Haldir?" Legolas yelled over to him.

"What are you talking about, Legolas?"

"Lirimaer saving your hide at Helm's Deep!" Legolas laughed.

Haldir spun Lirimaer around in his arms and looked into her eyes. "I am very fortunate to have her in my life!" he said, kissing her deeply.

It was late in the afternoon when they packed things up and headed back. Pippin and Diamond walked quietly behind everyone else. Jelena looked back and saw that they were holding hands. "I think my cousin has found a sweetheart!" she said. Legolas looked back and smiled.

"Legolas, Jelena. Lirimaer and I have decided that we have to start our long journey back to Lórien. I have been gone much too long from my duties," Haldir said.

"When are you going?" Jelena asked, very sad to hear they were leaving.

"We will stay one more day and then we must be going."
