Notes: While writing this, I followed the Tolkien's books and the two movies and made up a few things as well. My timeline does not coincide with the books, only to try to keep things short! I hope the translations are correct, if not please email me so I can make any necessary repairs. I hope to add drawings soon, having just moved I will need some time. I hope you enjoy my first fan fic I've ever written, please let me know what you think! This fan fic was also part of the www.haldir-lives.org Fan Fic Challenge.
The next morning Glorfindel said goodbye to everyone. "I must get back to Rivendell," he said. "Take care of yourself, Jelena, and the child you are carrying. I am sure that it will be as beautiful as its mother," he said, smiling down at her.
"Thank you, Glorfindel, for escorting me to the Shire. Perhaps we will meet again soon."
"Gimli, it was a pleasure traveling with you. When you journey back to your home, you must stop at Rivendell."
"I will, Master Glorfindel," Gimli said. They watched the elf ride off down the road towards the Brandywine Bridge.
Gandalf saddled Shadowfax as well. "I am going to check on Frodo. I shall be back in a few days. Take care of yourself, Jelena, Gimli."
"We will see you soon, and thank you Gandalf," Jelena said. They watched him head north towards Hobbiton.
Gimli sat down on a lounge chair and kicked his feet up. "It feels good not having to do anything today!" he said to Jelena. The sun was warm and comforting. Astaldo curled up on the ground next to Gimli to soak up its rays.
"What do you say, Jelena, to a nice walk? I can show you around," Pippin said.
"That would be wonderful, Jelena said, taking Pippin's arm. "Gimli, do you want to join us?" Gimli only grumbled and rolled over. Even Astaldo didn't want to move. "Well, I guess it is just you and I!" she said.
"I'll take you where I use to go as a child. I think you will like it!" Pippin said. They walked down the road until they came to a path. He led her down the path, finally coming to a large flat rock that jutted out over a river. The water moved slowly around the rock. A tree was next to the rock with a long rope with a knot on the end of it for swinging out over the river. "We had a lot of fun here when we were children," Pippin said. They sat down on the rock, which was warm from the sun.
They were sitting there in conversation when a shadow fell upon them from behind. Pippin turned around. "Hullo! Another elf visiting the Shire!"
Before Jelena could turn around, the elf hit Pippin in the side of the head with a thick branch. Jelena watched him fall over and turned to face his assailant. "You!" she shouted before he did the same to her. She fell over, slumped against Pippin.

They had spent the night in Bree, despite Legolas' protests. Haldir was getting annoyed with his friend but Lirimaer calmed him down. "Don't forget what we went through when you had to go to the borders, how crazed we would be to get back to the other. He is feeling the same," she said.
Haldir shrugged. "I can't imagine I was like this!" he said.
"Perhaps when we get back to Lórien, you should ask your brothers!" Lirimaer said, giving him a jab in the ribs.
Legolas had been quiet all day. He kept riding up ahead of Haldir and Lirimaer, and would look back at his friends trying to rush them. It was a days' journey to the Shire and Legolas was anxious. "Can we please ride a bit faster?" he asked. "The horses are well rested."
Haldir sighed and looked over at Lirimaer. She returned a smile and galloped off after Legolas. "I can't wait until this journey is over!" Haldir muttered to himself, galloping off after his wife and friend.

Jelena slowly opened her eyes. She saw a shape looming over her in the darkness. Her hands were tied together at the wrists.
"So you are awake," the voice said.
Jelena knew the voice well. Fear crept over her. Her eyes focused on Maeldir's face. "What are you doing here?"
"You need to ask? Because of you, I was banished from my home. Because of you," he said, grabbing a handful of Jelena's hair and yanking her up into a sitting position, "I will be looked down upon by all elves. You owe me something." He said, caressing the side of her face.
Jelena pulled away from his touch. "I owe you nothing! You did everything to yourself. It is you own fault that you were banished!" Maeldir slapped her hard, knocking her back over. Stars swirled before her eyes and she felt her nose bleeding.
"You should be nicer to me," he said. He wiped his thumb under her nose and looked at the blood on it and smiled, wiping it off on her dress. "You don't have your dwarf or anyone else here to protect you." He sat down next to her, dragging his fingers down her bare arm. Jelena tried to pull her arm away. Maeldir raised his hand to her again, making her flinch. This made Maeldir smile.
"What do you plan on doing with me?" she asked.
"Hmmm. I haven't given it much thought. What would you like me to do?" he said, reaching down and squeezing her thigh. Jelena sucked in her breath and kicked out at him. This time his hand flew and smacked her in the mouth. "I told you to be nice!"

They reached the gates at the Brandybuck Bridge after dark. Legolas dismounted and banged hard on the gate. He continued to bang on it until someone finally poked their head out of a window at the guardhouse. "Come back tomorrow!" the shirriff yelled to them. "No one is allowed in after dark!" With that they slammed the window closed.
Legolas didn't bother to knock again. He scaled the gate and jumped over to the other side. He turned and held a hand up to his friends and then headed for the guardhouse. He tried the door but it was locked. Legolas kicked the door open and stormed inside. Three hobbits were inside with surprised looks on their faces. "The key, now!" Legolas demanded. Robin Smallburrow quickly handed the key to the angry elf.
Legolas stomped back to the bridge, the hobbits slowly following him. He unlocked the gate, grabbed his horse's reins and led him through. Lirimaer and Haldir followed. Legolas closed the gate and locked it, tossing the key back to Robin. "Thank you," Legolas said and got on his horse. "And I'm sorry about your door!"
Haldir got off his horse. "Legolas, the horses need rest."
"If you want to stay, fine! But I am riding on!"
"Legolas! Your horse is tired! Look at him! Besides it is dark. You have no idea where Jelena is!"
"Jelena?" Robin said. "The girl traveling with the dwarf, elf and Gandalf?"
Legolas jumped off his horse and stomped up to Robin, grabbing him by his shirt. "Where is she?"
Haldir quickly snatched Legolas' hand from the frightened hobbit's shirt. "Enough, Legolas! You are terrifying them! You are making me a bit upset as well!" Haldir looked at the frightened hobbits. "I am sorry. Please forgive my friend. He is normally a calm elf. May we please stay here for the night? We will be no further trouble." The hobbits were too scared to do anything but nod. "Thank you," Haldir said. He took the horses' reins and led them to the guardhouse. "Legolas, please give me a hand."
Legolas looked down the road. He was so close to her! He wanted to run to try to find her. He felt a hand on his shoulder. "Please, Legolas," Lirimaer said. "We will leave at first light. Come and rest. Don't worry! You will see her soon!" Legolas reluctantly followed her to the guardhouse.

Maeldir pulled a knife from his belt. He ran its tip lightly down the length of Jelena's chest to her waist. "Are you ready to be nice to me?" he asked, his eyes glinting with lust.
"No! I will never be nice to you! I would rather be nice with an orc!" she yelled at him.
"Your voice annoys me!" he said, grabbing her sleeve and ripping it off. He crumpled it up and crammed it into her mouth. "And I've had enough of playing with you!" He took the knife and cut her skirt from its hem up to her waist, Jelena fighting hard to get away from him. He slapped her hard again and her vision faded in and out.
She felt her shirt being sliced open and ripped apart. She heard his knife being tossed to the ground next to her. His hands were upon her breasts, kneading and squeezing them roughly. "Beautiful!" he said, squeezing a nipple between his fingers painfully, making her flinch. He bent over her and she felt his hot mouth suckling her nipple. Tears were flooding her eyes as she tried to scream. His hand slid down her stomach. He lifted his head and gave her a queer look. He looked down at her stomach, which was begun to swell. "Does the prince know you carry his child?" She stared back at him. "Something tells me he has no idea!"
He laughed and stood up. He loosened his belt and dropped his quiver to the ground next to his bow. He started to unbutton his tunic and Jelena tried to get away. He kicked her in the ribs, making her roll into a ball. He pulled off his boots and untied his leggings, his stiff member springing out of its confines. Jelena's eyes grew large with horror. She tried pulling herself to her feet but Maeldir knocked her down. Jelena felt the cold metal of his knife against her side on the ground.
He held her down, trying to push her legs apart. She fought him with all her strength when his hand struck across her face once more, causing her to almost black out. She felt him kneeling between her legs running his hands down over her breasts and down her stomach. "I must say you have a beautiful body, for a halfling. I was jealous of Legolas, knowing that he had you," he said, his hand now upon the curls between her legs. His finger slipped inside her, bringing Jelena out of her daze.
She kicked with all her might, trying hard to roll to her side. She felt the handle of the knife with her fingertips. Maeldir lay down on top of her, his hand in between them trying to guide himself into her wriggling body. She slowly worked the knife towards her. She felt him at her entrance, trying to force himself into her dry depths. She grasped the knife and jammed it into his side.
He stopped and looked down at her, her eyes blazing back at him. He pulled himself up on his knees and looked at his own knife sticking out from between his ribs. He pulled it out, the blood flowing rapidly from the wound. "You bitch!" he yelled holding the knife above his head. Jelena closed her eyes waiting for the blow.
Suddenly Maeldir's body collapsed on top of her. She glanced over his shoulder at Pippin. Pippin's knife was stuck deep into Maeldir's back through his heart. "No one messes with my family!" he said, pushing Maeldir's lifeless body off of Jelena.
