Chapter Five
The morning came bright and cheerful to everyone in Lothlorien. Haldir had risen before the sun and made his way to Silvy's talan.
Once there, he quietly stepped inside and making not a sound, he dug through her bag by the door. It took him a moment to find what he was looking for but he smiled in triumph and removed the crumpled circlet leaving as quietly as he had come. Once outside, he examined the mess, figuring out in his head what it would look like when remade.
When he had the general idea of what he wanted, he smiled and made his way to his brother, Orophin's talan to see if he could bring the circlet back to it's former glory. He felt bad for his behavior last night and wanted to make it up to Sarafina. He saw what the simple cicrlet had meant to her and thought it was the best way to get his apology across. He sighed to himself and quickly made his way to his brother's talan.

Silvy awoke to the sun shined brightly in her eyes. She smiled, comepletely comfortable as she closed her eyes and stretched for a moment, forgetting where she was. She opened her eyes, her situtation hitting her like a ton of bricks, knocking her back to earth. *oh goddess what am I going to do?* She rubbed her eyes and slid out of bed, determined to find out why she was here in the first place. She looked around the room, trying to see if anyone had brought her clothes back. When none were found, she sat on the vanity bench trying to figure out what do about her clothes. She turned to face the mirror and found a piece of paper folded into a perfect square. Silvy smiled as she carefully unfolded it and read it's contents.
Sarafina,
Inside a small cupboard to the right of the bed, you will find a small selection of dresses. Choose any you may like and just call for me. I will come to fix your hair and make sure you get some food before speaking to the Lady. Once again, thank you for last night. It meant the world to me.
Caranheledwen
Silvy's grin widened as she realized who it was from. She let the letter flutter to the vanity as she stood and ran over to the small armoire, excited at the prospect of new clothes. She laid her hands on the handles and gently opened the elegantly carved doors. Inside were five dresses with matching slippers. One was white and looked to be for formal occasions, next was a dark green that would have matched her eyes, another was light blue followed by violet and finally there was a dress the color of a scarlet sunset, almost the exact shade of her hair. Silvy giggled in delight as she ran her fingers over the silken gowns. *which to chose, which the chose.*
Picking just one was hard, but after five minutes, Silvy finally choose the scarlet thinking it would bring out her hair. She dressed quickly, stopping to twirl around in the many folds of the fabric, admiring how it clung to her curves. Once the excitement was out of her system, she went to her door. She opened it and was about to call when Caranheledwen strode in quickly, a large smile gracing her delicate features.
She headed straight toward the vanity, placing the silve lidded tray on the vanity top. "Good morning, Sarafina. I trust you slept well?" Silvy smiled, "Wonderfully, thank you. I trust you had a satisfying and happy evening?" Caranheledwen blushed but smiled sweetly and motioned for her to sit down at the vanity. Once Silvy had been seated, Caranheledwen quickly grabbed a brush and gently began to brush out all of the tangles.
While Caranheledwen worked on her hair, they talked of her relatoinship with Carnegwathion and their upcoming binding ceremony. Silvy congradulated her, watching as Caranheledwen's smile and eyes grow faraway for a moment. Silvy watched in the mirror as she shook her head and continued to work on her hair. When her hair was smooth as a pond, she began to curl, twirl and loop Silvy's hair into a crown of curls and ribbons.
Once Caranheledwen had Silvy's hair just the way she wanted it, she spoke softly, "You look just beautiful, Sarafina. That color is a perfect compliment to your hair. I have brought you breakfast. I didn't know what you liked, so I took the liberty and brought you a little bit of everything. I hope there is something you will enjoy."
Caranheledwen smiled warmly and uncovered a tray laden with meats, fruits, cheese, bread, honey and juice. Silvy smiled and thanked Caranheledwen for her thoughtfulness.
Silvy picked up what appeared to be an apple and took a bite. It was softer and juicier, much better than any apple she'd ever remember having before. Once that was finished, Silvy quickly tucked in and began to eat, remembering she had had nothing the night before.
Several times she offered some to Caranheledwen, but she refused saying she had already eaten. Once she had polished off about half of the food, Silvy covered the tray and pushed it away holding her stomach.
Caranheledwen smiled and covered the tray and moved it out of the way. "Carnegwathion bids me to thank you and give you this." She pulled a simple piece of paper from a pocket in her dress and pressed it into her hand. "Do not open it until you are sure you are alone for it is a special blessing. Carnegwathion is a healer and border guard. This is a protective measure to ensure your safety during these dangerous times."
"Thank you. I will keep it close to my heart." Caranheledwen smiled and held Silvy's hand a moment longer before letting go.
With that Caranheledwen stood and motioned for Silvy to follow. Together they walked back to Galadriel's talan. They came to a stop at the base of the stairs. "The Lady wishes to speak to you. Do not fear, the Lady is gentle and fair. She will help you to solve your problems." Silvy nodded, "Thank you for everything Caranheledwen. I hope to see you again soon." Caranheledwen smiled and left Silvy standing at the base of the same set of stairs she had climbed yesterday. With a sigh, Silvy straightened her shoulders and walked calmly up the stairs to face her destiny.
Galadriel was standing by a desk, looking absolutely stunning, glowing in the light. "Come in my child. Please feel free to sit or stand, what ever makes you feel more comfortable." Silvy nodded, taking a seat for the time being. "In the past days, I have seen many things within my mirror, including your arrival. As to why you are here, that is a mystery to me. I can only hope you can help bring about some change before your time is up."
Silvy nodded, trying to think of any other reasons for her mysterious arrival. It hit her suddenly, making her gasp.
Galadriel also gasped as she saw the images move within her mind. A woman who looked just Sarafina, lying dead in a forest, Sarafina seeing her after her death and the message she had left behind.
It was then that Galadriel thought she understood why Sarafina was here, but she didn't know how wrong she was. She smiled inwardly and thanked the gods for sending Haldir someone he could love, even if only a little while. It would teach him that living with emotions could be just as good as living without them.
"Sarafina, there is not much more we can speak of. Why don't you take time to enjoy the forest, perhaps stop by our vast library and find something to read and help you understand where you are."
Silvy nodded, liking the idea. "Thank you, Lady Galadriel. I will take you up on your offer. Is there any place in particular you would recommend?"
Galadriel smiled as she thought for a moment, the glade. "Why don't you visit the the clearing? It has a ripplnig brook that has never failed to relax those who visit."
Silvy turned to leave but was stopped by Galadriel's voice within her head. "Wait. Tonight there will be a feast held in honor of your arrival. I will send someone to escort you at sundown. Be prepared to laugh and dance the night away."
Silvy again nodded, "Then my Lady, I take my leave."
Galadriel smiled and watched the human girl walk out. She shook her head, praying to the Valar to give the girl a chance and to let Haldir open his heart.
Silvy decided to visit the clearing later, her interest caught by Galadriel mentioning of a library. She quickly made her way down the stairs and came to a halt at the bottom, as Galadriel's laughter floated through her mind.
"To get to the library, you simply walk thirty paces to your left then turn right walk about twenty five paces. You should see a rope ladder hanging down from a rather large mellorn tree. Just climb straight up and you are there."
"Thank you milady."
Silvy tried to follow the directions but became distracted by the beauty of the wood around her. She stopped as she realized once again she had no idea of where she was. She closed her eyes and breathed deeply, willing herself not to panic. She opened her eyes and looked around trying to find anything to help give her a semblance of direction, but nothing looked right. She sat down and hugged her knees to her chest and laying her head on top of them as she tried to think of what to do. She didn't hear a sound as someone crept up on her, silently sitting mimicing her stance.
Silvy's head flew up as she finally felt someone near her. She nearly jumped out of her skin as she looked to her left to find a smiling face staring back her. She back away quickly and was surprised to see the elf looked like Haldir and yet he didn't, "Who are you and what are you doing?"
Rumil couldn't help his grin as the human scrambled away, "I am sorry. I did not mean to frighten you, that was not my intention," he told her, trying to keep from laughing out loud.
Silvy could see the laughter in the elf's eyes and knew that he hadn't meant any harm. "You just startled me, it's alright to laugh you know."
Rumil couldn't contain himself any longer and burst out laughing, a light crisp sound like Galadriel's.
"May I inquire as to your name?"
It took Rumil and moment to calm himself enough to speak as he rose, brushing the grass and twigs off of his leggings before speaking, "I'm Rumil, brother to Haldir and Orophin and March Warden of Lothlorien." She held out a hand, smiling as Rumil took it and brushed a light kiss across it.
"So it was you and your brother Orophin with Haldir yesterday?"
Rumil nodded, "These are dangerous times, we doing our duty although sometimes I think Haldir takes it to an extreme. Besides he's always been stuffy and proud, he can not help himself. So Lady Sarafina, is there anywhere I could help you find as you appear to be lost."
Silvy nodded again, "I was trying to find the library but was distracted by the beauty and energy of the forest."
Rumil nodded and offered her his arm, "Aye, I can understand that. It is the living energy that makes me love the forest more than the beauty. It makes everyone feel well and at peace with the world, even though that is not the case."
Silvy threaded her arm through his and together they walked. "Rumil, how is it you are able speak english but no others can?"
Rumil cocked his head to the side for a moment before understanding what she was saying. "As March Wardens, my brothers and I had to learn Westron in order to trade with and remove unwelcome visitors, althought no one has dared to venture near as of late. Our Lord Celeborn taught us all."
Silvy sent him a question glance, to which Rumil began to explain. "Lord Celeborn is Galadriel's husband. I'm sure you'll meet him tonight at the feast. He has just returned yesterday and was resting, hence the reason you haven't met him yet. I'm sure he will like you, especially because you challenge my brother without fear."
Silvy blushed slightly, "I only stood for what I thought was right, though now I realize that I was very wrong."
Rumil nodded, liking this young human very much. "It is alright, everbody is wrong at some point, except me of course."
Silvy laughed and slapped him lightly on the arm, "Sure you Rumil."
He laughed again, "Well here were are." Rumil gestured to the stairs gracefully with his hand. Silvy frowned slightly, not quite ready to part ways with Rumil.
Rumil noticed and patted her hand comfortingly, "Do not worry Lady Sarafina, we will meet again. Will you save me a dance at the feast tonight?"
Silvy stepped from Rumil, "Of course I will Rumil. I'm sure I have taken up enough of your time..." Rumil stopped,
"No. I have enjoyed the walk and the conversation. It was very nice to meet you Lady Sarafina, have a pleasent afternoon."
Silvy smiled at Rumil, "I enjoyed the conversation also. I hope you have a wonderful afternoon too."
Rumil bowed his head slightly before stepping back and melting into the trees.
Silvy shook her head and began to climb the stairs. She thanked the goddess these stairs were shorter as she walked through the door. She sucked in a breath at the many books, scrolls and writing items spread through the three rooms. She smiled and began to walk slowly through the rooms, looking over everything before trying to find something to read.
