Chapter Two
Once back in her home, Silvy pulled out three candles. Silver for the goddess and clairvoyance, pink for love and honor and light blue for patience and tranquility. After inscribing them with the proper symbols (earth, air, fire and water) and blessings, she went to her kitchen and grabbed two iris blossoms (for wisdom) and removed the petals. She went back to her candles and spread the petals around the candles.
After offering her praise to Mother Goddess, she lit the candles and let them burn down to nothing, praying for guidance and protection. After removing the remnants of the candles and wax covered petals, she went to her bathroom to take a shower. When the water had reached the desired temperature, she stripped off her jeans, t-shirt and under clothes. She stepped into the steam and felt her tension slipping away as the water sluiced over her. She washed her hair with the shampoo she had just made yesterday (rosemary, calendula, linden flowers and nasturtium). Once all the suds had been rinsed away, she turned off the water and stepped out.
She wrapped herself in a robe and made her way to the kitchen for a healing cup of chamomile and cinnamon tea. When the tea had finished brewing, she poured herself a cup and slowly made her way up to her room. Once there, she made her way over to her balcony and while studying the stars, she sipped her tea thoughtfully. *what did mother mean learning about love and letting go?* When she could find no answer to that, she finished her tea and went back inside. She went to her drawer and pulled out a dark blue silk tank top covered in silver stars with matching pants.
After changing into her pajamas, she went to her desk and grabbed two smooth, well handled stones from a earthen-ware bowl. Rose quartz for love and amethyst to strengthen her intuition. She held them in her hand for a moment, memories of her mother flowing through her. She laid down in her bed and snuggled under the covers still holding the stones tightly in her hand. The last thing she remembered before falling off into sleep was the sound of a rushing river and being wrapped in an overwhelming sense of peace.

Haldir had been on guard for the last three days on the northern border of Lothlorien with his younger brothers Rumil and Orophin. A new trainee named Laitalion had come with them to learn the ways of the Galadhrim from it's best guards. It had been a long and uneventful three days save the questions that came from Laitalion every three seconds. "What happens if Orcs attack? What do we do if one of us gets injured or trapped or taken?" Haldir tried to keep his patience with the young elf, but soon it wore thin. Haldir sent him over to Rumil and Orophin so he could pester them for a while and he could once be in the ever beautiful silence of the wood.
Silvy awoke to find herself surrounded by large ferns on one side and rushing river on the other. She sat up rubbing her eyes trying to decipher where she was. At first glance it looked almost like her own woods, but upon closer inspection, she was quite surprised. The air smelled sweet and clean, filled with the fragrance of spring and clean water. *gods, what a dream. i wonder how i got here?* Silvy crawled over to the water and dipped her hands in. She almost pulled them out because the water was extremely cold, but she keep them as she felt her weariness slip away. After a moment, she cupped her hands and brought a cup full of the liquid to her lips. It tasted like it felt, cold and crisp like the first day of Autumn.
She shook her hands to get rid of the excess water, stood up grabbing her bag (which she had no idea how it got there) and began to search for a way out. It was different from any place she had ever been before. The trees were strange, taller than any she had ever seen. The trunks were a light gray instead of the usual brown and green and the leaves took on a golden-silver hue as the light caught them. The ground was soft on her bare feet, feeling almost like carpet as she walked. Silvy smiled as a sweet breeze blew past her bringing the sent of rosemary, rose and some other unknown flowers to her nose.
Haldir looked down from the branch he was in and almost fell. One moment there had been nothing and now there was what appeared to be a young human girl. She was different from any human he had ever seen on his many travels. Red hair like flames, face like marble and eyes greener than the leaves of Mirkwood. She looked to be almost like an elf but one could not be sure by looks alone. His whistled to his brothers who in turn whistled back signaling they knew of the girl's sudden appearance. He whistled back again telling them he was going down to get a closer look. He could almost hear Laitalion's voice in his head *what's going on? are we going to fight?*.
Silvy was lost in the beauty of the place before her. Suddenly, she tensed feeling a pair of eyes watching her. She moved slowly, taking cover behind one of the great trees before her, trying to hide from the unseen eyes. Once behind the tree the feeling didn't go away, in fact it seemed to have multiplied. Silvy moved away from the tree, heart pounding, trying her hardest not to make a sound. Then she froze at the sound of a deep commanding voice. "Daro! Tu-uma kalya, ananta il-kalya faarea, Ai'aer." Silvy spun in a circle trying to pinpoint the voice that seemed to come from everywhere and yet no where.
Haldir almost laughed as the girl spun around trying to find him. He decided that now was the best time to reveal himself. He jumped down and landed beside her as she jumped away. She barely had time to glance at him, eyes widening at the speed in which he stood, drew and nocked an arrow, pointing at her throat. She studied the arrow for a minute before her eyes slid up the shaft and connected with a startling pair of blue eyes. What struck her first was their color, like the ocean on a summer day, deep and fathomless. The other thing that caught her attention was the level of coldness and complete lack of emotion except for suspicion.
Their gazes held as he spoke to her. " Ya naa lle?" Silvy only cocked her head at him, not understanding a word he said. Haldir studied her face for a moment before speaking again. " Quena ilambe tel eldalie?" Silvy sent him another questioning gaze, earning an impatient stare from Haldir. *so she's not elvish after all, what a pity* In the harshest, coldest voice he could manage he spoke again. "Who are you and what are you doing in the Golden Wood?" Silvy recoiled at his harshness, wondering what she had done for him to be so cruel to her. She wouldn't stand for someone to speak to her in such a manner when he had no right. "First off, I don't know where I am and I don't know how I got here. Second, you have no right to speak to me in a such a way. All I know is one minute I'm in my bed, next thing I know, I'm here with you trying to kill me."
Haldir couldn't believe his ears. No one had ever spoken to him in such a manner when they were the ones in trouble. He studied the girl trying to find some sign of lies, but found nothing but innocence and a little fear. She was even more beautiful up close, but she radiated a power he only ever felt in the presence of Lady Galadriel. She looked to be no older than 20 in human years. He slowly dropped his bow as they stared at each other defiantly until her gaze shifted to his right and left. Haldir didn't have to look to know that his brothers and Laitalion had finally made their way down with weapons drawn.
Unconsciously, she took a step back as Haldir motioned for them to put their weapons away. He turned to them as they fired questions at him. Silvy stood back, listening to their hushed voices wondering what they were saying about her. Haldir raised his hand to silence their questions as he quickly told what little he knew about the girl. "She is but a human barely into her adulthood, but in her eyes is the knowledge of ages. She radiates a power unlike any other besides the Lady. I believe she is no mere human girl, she is powerful."
Just then the Lady's gentle voice sounded through his head. "Halidr, I sense someone is with you." "Yes milady. A young woman has suddenly appeared by the River without warning. She claims to have no knowledge of how she got here or where she is." "Believe her words, she does not yet know her purpose here, but she will soon see. Please bring her to me at once and only you shall accompany her." Yes milady." Haldir turned to Silvy whose hands were resting on her hips in frustation. "My Lady bids you welcome and wishes to see you."
Silvy was about to protest when a gentle voice sounded within her head as well. "Do not be afraid, child. No harm shall come to you while you are here. Follow Haldir, he will protect you and see you safely to me." "But who are you?" "You will find out soon, Ai'aer." Silvy's eyes widened but said nothing as the arrogant elf the voice called Haldir motioned for her to follow him. She sent one last look around the small group before moving to walk along side Haldir.
As the moved away from the others, Haldir opened his mouth to speak but was cut off. "Listen, I know you don't want me here, heck I don't want to be here either, but there is no reason we cannot act civil to each other." Haldir eyes widened a fraction, but that was the only reaction he gave. He curtly nodded to Silvy and sped off. Silvy could barely hold back a grin as she watched the man's retreating back as she hurried to keep up with him.
